In other words
ants will eat crumbs
of metaphorical
ants will eat crumbs
that is to say
if put in the position
or given the opportunity
in the big hunt
with thumping hooves and long eared

dogs for fetching
the dead with bugles
and rifles resounding red
on the hills
into the soil
behind them regardless
of ornate practice
if I use Brits and
foxes to illustrate
how ants will eat
where there are ants

they will eat
what they can carry
a dollar in quarters
Icarus wax
baby shoes worn thin by
grandmother hopefuls
there are ants in One Hundred
Years of Solitude
in other words
there are ants
